Manistique Public Safety Update. Tim
Russell and Corey Barr went over the millage that is being proposed
for November election. They want to ask for a 2.35 mil, 5 years on
the first go around.
City of Manistique would like to:
·
Provide a service that is legally obligated
by licensure, which is to be able to respond to emergency ambulance
calls (911) as an ALS agency twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week. This service is available countrywide COUNTYWIDE.
·
Provide transport service from Schoolcraft
Memorial Hospital (SMH) to other critical care facilities; Marquette
Duke Lifepoint, Petoskey, Traverse City, Ann Arbor, Green Bay, and
more. This is necessary because of the need for further services not
currently performed by SMH. It is crucial to understand that SMH
only performs scheduled surgeries, not emergency surgery. Once
stabilized, critically ill patients are transferred to other
hospitals by an ambulance staffed with ALS personnel. This ensures
proper patient care enroute and until they reach a care facility
that can properly attend to a patient’s needs i.e heart
catheterization, open heart surgery, stroke intervention embolisms
etc.
·
Provide transport services back to
Schoolcraft cunt COUNTY, SMH Swing bed/short term care,
Schoolcraft medical Care Facility long term are CARE,
Woodland Assisted Living, and home. These places offer long term
care, rehabilitation services, and hospice.
Road Projects: discussion on priority
roads that need work, asking for new estimates from Schoolcraft
County Road Commission for updated estimates for 2023-2024.
Township Hall- Accept Cross General
Contracting quote for the following:
·
Provide and install self-adhesive gasketing
at door pair leading to pavilion and at outside door near restrooms.
·
Replace all exterior door sweeps with
neoprene sweeps. Total door sweeps to be replaced (5)
·
Repair caulking joints at all exterior
thresholds
·
Remove and replace (1) door closer with hold
open function at storage room
Total Cost is $2,680.00. Motion K.

FD/EMS From Brad Benard: We had 4 calls
this month two were mutual aid. The past few months we have been
working with the sheriff to put together a search and rescue team
for the county staffed by different members from every department in
the county. I’m still waiting on getting contractors to look at
repairing the hall. No one seems to have time to come down and look
at it. I’ll keep at it and let you all know as soon as I can catch a
break. Lastly our agricultural incident training is coming up soon.
We will be hosting all departments in the county, should be a good
turnout and a good training.
EMS
from Ryan Knoph:
March to current EMS report
2- fall/ lift assist, 2- PI accidents
The ambulance will have to go to Bay View
truck repair sometime soon. Located the ongoing issue with the
ambulance from the last time they looked at it. It will be to have a
new turbo. Sometimes the rig will only run 50mphs.
